The card provides 2 MB of VRAM in order to support more resolutions and colors than the built-in video. The cables cost me a whopping $70 (including shipping), bringing my grand total to $150. This was a pretty good deal, except that it did not include the necessary cables. I purchased my AV card used on the Usenet newsgroup: It will work fine with any machine from the 6100 series, but since there's only one slot, it will displace any other card you may have installed there (DOS, HPV or Nubus). It was also available as a service part from Apple, and can be obtained used on the Internet and occasionally from retailers of used and service parts.
